Welcome Back!

Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." – John 14:6

Dear friends and family of True North and St. John's,

We've made it! It's the start of another School Year.  Some of you are returning to your studies.  Others of you are taking your first steps as collegiates.  The University of Minnesota is a big campus.  Parents tell their children walking home for the first time, "don't get lost."  After seeing the size of the campus here in the Twin Cities that same statement may have crossed their minds.  Don't get lost!

Your parents aren't the only ones who hope that you don't get lost.  Your home congregation does too.  The staff here at True North doesn't want you to get lost.  Most importantly your Savior doesn't want you to get lost.  How does that happen?  It often is subtle.  It often is a slow process.  The devil starts with the "little" lies.  You can go to church when you're home.  You can survive by taking time to read your Bible on your own.  Pretty soon time in God's Word disappears.  More time is spent on studies.  More time is spent on socializing.  The devil is there cheering that on.  You're finally finding your way.  You're finally discovering the truth.  You're finally setting yourself up for life.  And pretty soon, either your confidence has blinded you from seeing the truth or you've crashed and the devil is there rubbing your face into the shame you feel.

Don't get lost!  True North and the congregation of St. John's is here to be of assistance to you.  Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life.  It is through him that your future is secured.  Jesus died for you.  He paid for your sins of pride and despair.  He paid for your sins of neglecting his Word and despising your parents.  True North is here to remind of that.  We do that whenever we gather.  During the year there are opportunities to get together for Bible Study and worship.  The True North Staff is here to help encourage you.  They want you to keep your eyes on your Savior as the way, truth, and life.  We're glad you're here.  We pray that the School Year starts well.  The freshmen are on campus getting acclimated.  The upperclassmen are coming.  May the Lord grant you a good start to your year.  I look forward to serving you.

In Christ,

Pastor Lindner
